Aberdeen second in UK for quality of life

Aberdeen has been ranked second in the UK only to London, for its quality of life. The survey ranks Aberdeen higher than international cities like Rome, Houston, Hong Kong and Dubai.

The chairman of one of Aberdeen’s global companies always talks of some people’s reluctance when they are told they need to relocate to World HQ in Aberdeen. But, he gleefully adds, the same people are even more reluctant, some years later, if they are told they have to move away to one of the regional or national offices.
The top three cities in the world were all in Europe – Vienna in first place, Zurich second and Geneva third.
The same survey names Aberdeen as the UK’s top eco-city and puts it in 19th place worldwide.
The criteria for the eco ranking included air quality and traffic congestion. Here the top place in the world went to Calgary, with Helsinki taking the honours in Europe.
Aberdeen’s strong showing in the quality of life and eco-city tables comes at a very exciting time for the Granite City.
