£30 million harbour development

The news of a £30 million retain hotel, commercial and retail development beside Aberdeen harbour is to be welcomed.

, the plans would breathe new life into an area that is currently rather down-at-heal. Given that this is close to the station and therefore a significant arrival point for visitors, it doesn’t really project a good (or true) impression of Europe’s Energy Capital.
A more vibrant hotel and modern shopping mall development would.
There is another important function that the proposed new development could well perform.
It would be a good “stepping stone” to help bridge the worrying gulf between the traditional Union Street/Bon Accord/St Nicholas shopping heart of Aberdeen and the new Union Square shopping centre near the station.
