RIP conventional bulbs

Apparently there is a rush for 100-watt light
bulbs. The reason is that the EU has decreed that they must be
phased out to save the planet.
And it is not going to stop there. Next in line, apparently, will be the ubiquitous 60-watt light bulb.

After that the EU presumably will expect us all to install energy saving light bulbs. You know the ones I mean – you turn them on and leave them on all evening (presumably undoing all the good by burning unnecessary lights) because they take so long to warm up.
But the other likely outcome must be that people will buy additional standing lamps or one of those multi-bulb ceiling lights. So, farewell 100-watt bulb, hello four times 40-watt?
