Union Street, Aberdeen

As the centre for the whole of the North East of Scotland, Aberdeen has for centuries been the main shopping centre for a huge catchment area. Indeed, the range and quality of shops in the city even attracts shoppers from as far afield as Norway.

Traditionally Aberdeen's main shopping areas of the city have been Union Street and George Street, but now shopping malls in the city centre have changed the shopping patterns.

The main shopping centres are:

Bon Accord Centre accessible from Schoolhill and George Street
St Nicholas Centre, opposite the Bon Accord Centre on Schoolhill, running through to Union Street
Union Square at the railway station on Guild Street
The Mall on Union Street at Union Bridge
The Academy on Schoolhill

Parking

There are two car parks at the Bon Accord Centre, one on Loch Street, one on Harriet Street (off Schoolhill).
Union Square has 1,700 spaces (accessible from Market Street, Palmerston Road and South College Street).
The Mall has a car park accessible from Wapping Street near the railway station
Shiprow is one of the original multi-storey car parks with access off Virginia Street.
West North Street car park, usually has spaces and is within reasonable walking distance of the Bon Accord Centre.
Gilcomston multi storey car park is behind His Majesty's Theatre.
Huntly Street multi-story car park is free at the weekends.
Alternatively park and use the park-and-ride at Kingswells and Bridge of Don.

Shiprow (off Virginia Street, but very tight ramps not suitable for the fainthearted!)
The Mall Trinity
South College Street (usually has spaces and has a rather complex walkway through to the Trinity Centre and Union Street)

Huntly Street (FREE at weekends).
Alternatively park outside the central area, or use the park-and-ride services from Bridge of Don or Kingswells.
